Happy Twelfth Night, everyone, and welcome back to school. :-)

Here's some of what's going on in grade 8:

Math:
8N - p. 36 # 1-9, 30-45 due tomorrow; quiz on square roots tomorrow; chapter 1 test next Thursday

L.A.:
8N - we have just started our study of Cue for Treason, and this will be your major reading assignment for the next several weeks; Word Power test # 12 tomorrow; test on Grammar, Spelling and Punctuation next Tuesday

Socials:
8N - you should be pretty much finished your research for your two historical scenarios and should be looking at what patterns you see, and what conclusions you can draw from the information you have discovered

P.E.:
All classes - please remember you are expected to have P.E. strip for all P.E. activities. We run on the track in all weathers, so please ensure you dress appropriately on those days as well.

All students - we have started magazine subscriptions as our latest fundraising project.

French:
All students - French tests were supposed to have been signed, and the "Expressions Avec Avoir" package was supposed to have been completed by today. Many people did not do this, so please make sure they are both done by Friday. French Exam outlines went out today - ensure you have all necessary notes and handouts.

L.A.:
8N - WP 8 test on Friday; Alphabet Book work block on Friday - make sure you have your novel and all related notes here! Novel study due date has been extended to December 3rd.

Wow, can you believe it? 8N is sailing next week after a long, long wait!!! Make sure you are at the Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal at 6:30 a.m. on Monday morning, ready to go! Bring rain gear, warm clothes and your Sailor's Handbook!

A couple of pieces of business to attend to...

8N:

L.A. - we have finished reading Twelfth Night, but don't forget the details - we'll have a bit more time to explore this Shakespearean silliness on our return from the high seas. Twelfth Night journals are also due Wednesday, June 16th. Word Power test 27 has also been postponed.

Math - p. 193 # 1-39 odds was the last assignment we worked on in class - we will continue looking at algebraic expressions and equations when we come back as well.

Bulldog Bowl orders are due June 11th - as 8N will be away, please send food orders directly to the office or with a sibling.

Bible - assignment is due Tuesday, June 15th.

French - Acrostiche assignment was due today, but if you forgot to hand it in, I will accept it if you hand it in Monday morning, June 14th by 8:45.

Bible - Forming the New Testament Canon will be due the first class you see Miss Marissen again (for 8N, this will be Tuesday, June 15th)

SAILING: Information notices went out today about drop-off and pick-up times for the ferries. This is also posted below.

Sailing Trip Reminders for 8N Sailors and Parents:

We will be sailing on the Pacific Swift (http://www.salts.ca/site/our_ships.html) from June 7-11, 2010.

Bring:
 lots of warm clothes, and a full set of rain gear (look at the gear list at www.salts.ca for more info)!
 your Sailor’s Handbook and a pen or pencil.
 cards or a small game if you would like to play on the ferry or the Pacific Swift.
 money if you want to buy anything on the ferry or on the Pacific Swift.
 a great attitude!

Be at the Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal by 6:30 a.m. on Monday morning (June 7th) so we can get the group and luggage organized in time for the 7:00 a.m. sailing. We meet at the walk-on passenger entrance.

We will catch the 5:00 ferry from Swartz Bay on Friday, so you need to be picked up at the Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal by 6:30 p.m. on Friday evening (June 11th).

Greetings all,
We are in to our last week before the Christmas break!! A few minor notes for the last week.

Science:
All classes- The science quiz that was scheduled for this Friday, December 18 has been postponed until after the Christmas break. There are simply not enough classes left to properly cover the material before then!

Math:
8M/8C/8N- The chapter 9 math test is tomorrow (Tuesday, December 15).

French:
All classes - Les Parties du Corps poster due Tuesday

Other notes:
We will be going skating this coming Thursday, December 17, so make sure you bring your ice skates with you to school on that day!!
